Driving Licence
|
If you are from a non-European Community Country
(regardless of your nationality) and want to drive
in Great Britain, you will need to pass a Driving
Test within one year of arriving in Great Britain;
your insurance may be void if you fail to pass a GB
Driving Test within this one year period.
When applying for your Driving
Licence you will be issued with the new style photo
card, the DVLA stopped issuing the old paper licence
in December 1999. |
|
 |
The
new photo licence comes in two parts, a plastic
photo-card which displays your photograph and a scan of
your signature; this is accompanied by a paper document
that contains further information about your driving
entitlements. Whenever you need to show your licence you
will need to produce both card and paper. Your new
photo-card licence will have to be renewed every ten
years until you are 70.
To apply for your driving
licence you need to complete an application form which can
be obtained from your local Post Office.
